What is “Wagyu Beef Seasoning”? Tasting the much-talked-about “AWESOMEET original”!

This series features Payke employees testing out products for themselves.

This time, we tried “AWESOMEET original,” a new concept seasoning made specifically for wagyu beef!

What exactly is a sauce made specifically for wagyu beef?

“AWESOMEET” is a sauce that has been introduced with a new concept as a seasoning specifically designed for wagyu beef.

The unique manufacturing process utilizing fermentation gives the sauce a depth and richness that cannot be experienced with any other sauce.

According to the official website (development story), AWESOMEET is a seasoning that was thoughtfully designed to maximize the enjoyment of Wagyu beef.

With this sauce, you can enjoy a Wagyu beef experience at home as if you were eating at a fine restaurant…? I would like to try this!

Let’s dig in! How does it taste…?

We also prepared “Jojoen Yakiniku Sauce” and “Niku no Fukushima Premium Spice” for a side-by-side taste test, so be sure to read until the end!

By the way, we prepared both lean cuts and fatty cuts of wagyu beef for the taste test.

We carefully tested which sauces and spices pair best with each cut of wagyu beef.

Jojoen’s Yakiniku Sauce

Jojoen’s sauce has a pronounced sweetness at first, but it starts to feel a bit heavy toward the end. It paired nicely when enjoyed with salad and meat together.

The sweetness and the roasted sesame flavor were really good. Especially the first bite made me think, ‘Wow, this is delicious!’ and got me excited. But, as AYA mentioned, it does start to feel a bit heavy later on.

Exactly, it has a light, almost dressing-like quality, and while it’s really delicious at first, it starts to feel a bit heavy if you eat a lot of it. It seems like it would go perfectly with lean cuts of meat or a salad.

I especially loved the sesame flavor. It pairs really well with lean cuts of meat. However, with fattier cuts, it might become a bit overwhelming.

Seasoning exclusively for Wagyu beef “AWESOMEET original”

This one has a very fermented flavor to it. The saltiness and onion flavor go perfectly with it, especially with fatty Wagyu beef.

Absolutely, the AWESOMEET has a salty and robust flavor that really brings out the deliciousness of wagyu beef. It doesn’t have that heavy feeling, so it’s perfect for when you want to enjoy a lot of meat. If you want to savor the rich taste of the fat, I highly recommend this one.

It really goes well with wagyu beef. As expected from a sauce made specifically for wagyu! The pairing with the fatty cuts was especially excellent, and the rich flavor that spread in my mouth was irresistible.

It has a unique depth to it, so even the fatty parts don’t feel heavy. I felt that this was indeed made exclusively for Wagyu beef.

Meat Fukushima: Superb Spice

It surprisingly goes well with almost anything. Maybe it’s because it’s a spice, but it pairs perfectly not only with meat but also with vegetables like potatoes and pumpkin. I was really impressed!

Yes, I felt it enhanced the flavor of the ingredients, and I thought it was easy to use in everyday cooking. It’s no wonder so many people said it goes with everything!

I love how the spices smell so good and how easy it is to use on vegetables. Its simplicity makes it work well in so many dishes.

I felt that just a light sprinkling would enhance the overall flavor of the dish. It’s simple, but that’s what makes it so appealing.

Bonus Round: Adding Yuzu Shichimi to Each Seasoning

As a bonus, we also tried adding a bit of Yuzu Shichimi to each of the seasonings during the taste test.

Adding Yuzu Shichimi to Jojoen’s sauce brought a refreshing hint of yuzu to its sweetness and sesame flavor, making the aftertaste much lighter. It’s a great option for those who find the heaviness a bit overwhelming.

I really liked adding Yuzu Shichimi to AWESOMEET. The tangy kick added a sharp accent to the rich, fermented flavor, making the taste feel more refined.

Adding Yuzu Shichimi to Niku no Fukushima Premium Spice brought a nice touch of yuzu aroma to the spice, which I really enjoyed.

Adding Yuzu Shichimi to any of the seasonings brings out a new level of deliciousness. The refreshing taste of yuzu complements all the seasonings perfectly, especially when you want a nice accent to cut through the richness.
