Recommended for visitors to Japan! About Japanese Izakaya

When planning a trip to Japan, many of you are probably looking forward to the sights and delicious food. However, one of the unique experiences in Japan that should not be forgotten is a taste of “Izakaya culture”.

What is Izakaya?

This unique Japanese restaurant format is the perfect place for after work or a get-together with friends. The appeal of this restaurant is that you can enjoy a wide variety of drinks and diverse cuisine in an at-home atmosphere.

Izakaya offers a variety of alcoholic beverages, including beer, sake, and shochu, and snacks to go with them. Starting with sashimi, yakitori and tempura, more recently there is a wide variety of creative dishes and desserts.

We went to TORIKIZOKU!

TORIKIZOKU, a very popular chain izakaya that operates throughout Japan, is one of the most accessible izakaya for foreign visitors to Japan. TORIKIZOKU is characterized by its reasonable prices and extensive menu. All menu items are priced at a flat rate, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about your budget.

How to Order at TORIKIZOKU

Once you are shown to your seat, you will be able to order on tablet.

Tablets were available in multiple languages via buttons in the upper right corner.

Recommendations at TORIKIZOKU

Here are some of our recommended TORIKIZOKU menus!

Drink Menu

Let’s start with a toast with beer! They have an all you can drink menu of soft drinks for children, and children of elementary school age and younger! This is a popular restaurant even for those with children!

I ordered a mega size beer! It’s pretty big…

Fast Serving “Quick menu”

If you are hungry, we recommend that you start with the quick menu, which is served quickly!

We ordered the popular cabbage and edamame, a staple of the izakaya menu.

And on top of that, the cabbage was free of charge for another serving!

Early order is recommended for cooked rice, which takes 30 minutes.

Next, we ordered the recommended “Torikamameshi”. This item is served quickly, but it is recommended to order it ahead of time because the rice is cooked for about 30 minutes on the fire after you are seated.

Enjoy the time until the finished product is ready.

Steam for 5 minutes after the fire is extinguished, and then it is ready to serve!

Stir well before serving.

Types of Yakitori and Recommended Parts

Now, from here, we order yakitori, the main menu item!

First, we ordered the popular royalty, the “Momokizoyaki”!

You can choose to order “sauce”, “salt”, or “spice”, but this time I ordered three of each!

First, the standard Tare-flavor

The sweet sauce is exquisite! This is yakitori of the royal road!

Next, Salt-Grilled!

It has a simple salt flavor, but it is also excellent! If you want to taste the true flavor of the meat, the salt flavor is recommended!

And then, Spices

The taste is peppery and spicy! This is a great drink!

Other recommended parts

Tare-Sauce Skin

A dish with a soft, fatty texture that you could eat as many as you want.

Hatsu – Salted Heart

The heart of the bird! It is also excellent with a crispy texture! Salt flavor is recommended!

How was it?
