【Japanese sweets’ famous store】 Taste of the long-established store of Kano Shojyuan

This time, I went to a famous Japanese sweets shop “Kano Shojyuan” in Shinmaru Building in Otemachi.
You can buy Japanese sweets in the traditional Japanese-style shape motif, and also you can have tea made there and eat the sweets which is examined the materials.

Sweets and green tea set

It is a set of sweets and green tea that changes every month. The sweets of this month was that wrapped bean paste with potatoes and represented red and white plums. The workmanship is brilliant and I could feel a careful craftsmanship.
Art crafts that used confectionery materials are called “handicraft confectionery”. In general, the one expressed nature such as flowers and birds of the four seasons are known, and also there are the one which expressed various scenes such as Noh and dance.
For the impression that I ate, the bitterness and astringency of the green tea were just mixed well with the sweetness of the confectionery and it was very delicious.

Matcha Latte and Matcha Parfait

Although it is sold separately, I tried a perfect combination for those who are not good at bitter green tea.
Matcha latte was a bit sweet, but I think that it is perfect for those who drink it for the first time.
Matcha parfait is a Japanese style parfait with green tea ice, chestnuts, red beans, and white balls of “Gion Tsujiri” that holds the head office in Kyoto and famous for the matcha.
Since the syrup is served, please add it when you feel it’s not sweet enough.
There are many other Japanese-style menus such as zenzai, anmitsu, and warabi mochi. Each of them can be purchase within 1000 yen.

One piece of heaven

This the sweets wrapped chestnut paste with red bean paste expressed jar. Chestnut sweetness is strong and compatibility with outer bean paste is outstanding. It’s a bite-size, but it’s enough to satisfy my stomach.

Kuri Manjyu

It is a chestnut Manjyu or a Japanese bun that envelops whole chestnut grain and baked solidly with soft dough. For those who dislikes red beans but likes chestnuts, it is perfect. When you have a bite, gentle taste spreads throughout your mouth, and it goes well with hot tea. It is possible to purchase throughout the year, so you can always feel the fall of Japan.
