Seven&i Japanese sweets mix

This Japanese sweets assort contains 8 kinds of them, so it is best for those who want to try various kinds of Japanese sweets.
The price is 300 yen (tax excluded).
Let’s see each of them!

Chestnut Dorayakki & Tsubu-an Dorayaki

This is chestnut Dorayaki and Tsubu-an (sweet bean jam containing whole beans) Dorayaki. Dorayaki means disk-shaped castella with sweet bean paste inside. Chestnuts paste and sweet potato paste are put between castella.
When I was little, I believed the name Dorayaki was from Doraemon who loved to eat Dorayaki, but in fact, the origin of the name comes from the instrument called Dora. Sweet bean paste and moist dough are matched, and it is very tasty!

Baked Sweet Potato Manju & Chestnut Manju & Sweet Bean Yokan

This is baked sweet potato manju and chestnut manju. Manju is steamed sweets made from flour and it has anko (sweet bean paste) inside. Because sweet bean paste is sweet, it goes well with hot Japanese tea. It is a taste that makes everyone feel nostalgic.

This is sweet bean yokan. Yokan is Japanese sweets that sweet bean paste poured into molds and shaped with agar. It looks like jelly, but the texture is slightly different from jelly. It is a bit hard and I could feel it melts when I put it in my mouth. This is a small size to be eaten easily, but normally it is more big size rectangle and we cut this to eat.

Mochi Monaka & Ogura-an Pie

This is Mochi Monaka. The brown one is made from mochi and it has a very light texture. Mochi Monaka is mochi (rice cake) filled with anko (sweet bean paste) made from azuki beans.

This is Ogura-an pie. This is one of Japanese confectionery made with pie and sweet bean paste, and they go well with each other!

Did you like them?
You can see a lot of Japanese sweets are made with sweet bean paste, anko! I rediscover that anko is familiar to Japanese people so much.
