Limited-Edition Winter Sweets ~Meltykiss&Konayuki Chocolate~

Hello! This is Payke writer, yui.
In Japan, the leaves have completely fallen from the trees and it truly feels like the middle of winter.
At supermarkets and convenience stores, you’ll see more and more signs that say, “Limited-Edition Winter Items” on sweets.
And within these limited-edition winter sweets, a lot of them are chocolate sweets.
This time, among those sweets, I’ll introduce you to Meltykiss and Konayuki Chocolate!

Meltykiss

First, I’ll introduce you to Meltykiss!

Meltykiss is a limited-edition winter sweets staple in Japan; when you start seeing Meltykiss in stores, it makes you think- wow, it’s already winter.
I’ll start with the one on the very left, Premium Chocolate.

When you open the lid, you’ll see individually wrapped chocolates inside.
The chocolates that I’ll be introducing later, the Fruity Strawberry and First Flush Green Tea, are individually wrapped in a similar way.

This is the cross section of the Premium Chocolate.
So, let’s try them!
Just like its product name, the Premium Chocolate is very milky and rich!
Because the sweetness is just right, I feel like I’ll accidentally eat too many.
It melts inside my mouth within seconds.
Next is the one in the middle, Fruity Strawberry!

The wrappers are pink and they have strawberries printed on them.

This is the cross section of the Fruity Strawberry.
Now, let’s try them!
The moment I opened the wrapper, I could smell the sweet-sourness of the strawberries.
It tasted very sweet at first, but I could taste its moderate sourness afterwards.
They also smell nice!
Next is the one on the right, First Flush Green Tea!

The wrappers are green and they have green tea leaves printed on them.

This is the cross section of the First Flush Green Tea.
Since it’s very green, I’m expecting a to taste the strong flavors of green tea!
Let’s try them!
There isn’t a very strong scent of green tea.
As expected, the green tea flavor is very strong and I can taste its unique bitterness as well!
With this, you’ll be able to experience Japan’s one of a kind flavors.
I bought each Meltykiss for 213 yen (tax included)!
They’re sold at supermarkets and convenience stores all over Japan.

Konayuki Chocolate

Lastly, I’ll introduce you to Konayuki Chocolate (Powder-Snow Chocolate)!

When you open the lid, there are 4 chocolates on the right and 4 chocolates on the left.
In the photo, I peeled the wrapper of the chocolates on the left side.
There’s a toothpick in the middle and you’re supposed to use that to eat the chocolates.

Now, let’s try them!
On the package, it says “liquor is used,” but I couldn’t smell or taste the liquor.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the strong taste of liquor, so I found them very easy to eat.
One bite-size piece is a little big but it’s not inedible.
I bought 1 box of the Konayuki Chocolate for 238 yen.
They’re sold at supermarkets and convenience stores all over Japan.
And those were the limited-edition winter sweets!
There’s still many more limited-edition winter sweets being sold, so if you find one, please try them out!
