Popular with Women! Ume-Flavored Snacks ~Kneaded-Ume Edition~

Hello! This is a writer from Payke.
This time, in round 2 of the Ume-Flavored Snacks Series, is the Kneaded-Ume Edition!
(If you haven’t read the Candy & Tablet Edition, please have a look after reading this article!)
I’ll introduce snacks with textures different from the candy & tablets this time, so I’d definitely like for you to put your hands on some kneaded ume to try too!
I’ll rate the sourness by using the number of ☆s!

Honey Kneading Plum

First is MUJI’s Honey Kneading Plum!

In the beginning it’s a bit tough, but as I kept chewing it got softer.
Because of the honey inside it’s sweet and the saltiness is just right so it is easy to eat.
I think that children would find it tasty as well.
Although they do get stuck in your teeth and gums easily, because they are delicious, you can probably eat a lot of them!
They’re highly rated in reviews.
As expected, the mild sourness and the moderate sweetness from the honey seems to be appealing!
Some people seem to get addicted to its slightly harder texture too.
The sourness is ☆☆.
As for calories, one bag (30g) is 101kcal, being slightly on the higher side.
I bought one bag of the Honey Kneading Plum for 120 yen (tax included).

Ume Neri

Next is the Ume Neri by NOBEL.

Unlike the Honey Kneading Plum, the Ume Neri is quite hard.
It’s even doubtful whether this is actually kneaded ume.
After leaving it in your mouth for a while, it becomes softer and chewable.
The more you chew, the more the flavor oozes out from the inside of the candy.
It’s moderately salty, and the flavor of the shiso (perilla leaf) is also strong.
In product reviews, the ratings are completely divided.
Some say that ‘the strong flavor is addicting!’ while others say that they ‘don’t know about the flavor…’
I don’t really like the strong flavors of shiso, so I didn’t find it that tasty.
The sourness is ☆☆☆.
As for calories, one bag (20g) is 55kcal.
I bought one bag of the Ume Neri for 135 yen (tax included).
And that was the Kneaded Ume edition!
There’s still plenty of varieties of kneaded ume in stores.
It may be fun to decide which ones to buy by looking at the packages!
Hope you’ll try finding some flavors and textures that you like!
