Popular with Women! Ume-flavored Snacks ~Seedless Edition~

Hello! This is a writer from Payke.
This time, in round 3 of the Ume-Flavored Snacks Series, is the Seedless Edition!
(If you haven’t read the Candy & Tablet・Kneaded-Ume Editions, please have a look after reading this article!)
The snacks that I’ll be introducing this time will have textures different from the Candy & Tablet・Kneaded-Ume snacks, so I hope you’ll have fun trying them out!
Many products similar to the ones I’ll be introducing this time should be available in stores, so please check them out!

Umē! Sheet

First I’ll try the Umē! Sheet.

Since the color is not really red, it doesn’t feel like ume… but it definitely tastes like ume.
Other than the moment you put it in your mouth, it’s not too sour but is actually sweet.
I think that children who aren’t very good with sour foods will be able to eat them without difficulties too.
When I was a child, we did not have ume-flavored snacks in the form of sheets, and so my first thought was “they evolved!”
Although they do get stuck in your teeth easily, since the sheets are thin, they’re very easy to eat.
Since it comes in a re-sealable bag, it’s possible to snack on them throughout the day.
The sourness is ☆.

These are the ingredients for the Umē! Sheet.
The ume are made in China.
I bought a bag of the Umē! Sheet for 108 yen.

Delicious Whole Hoshi-Ume

Next, I’ll try the Delicious Whole Hoshi-Ume!
Hoshi-ume is umeboshi (pickled/dried Japanese plums) that have been dried again (in other words, dried umeboshi).
In many cases sweetener is added, so they’re more sweet and sour than the normal umeboshi.

The seeds are taken out of each and every umeboshi.
Appearance wise, it’ll make you think ‘now that’s a hoshi-ume!’
It’s very soft and sweet, but the sourness will immediately kick in.
The saltiness is slightly strong.
Though the surface is dried out, the inside is very juicy!
The sourness is ☆☆.

These are the ingredients for the Delicious Whole Hoshi-Ume.
Among the products I’ve introduced, this is the only one that clearly has “umeboshi” written under the product category name.
I think that hoshi-umes are the one food that lets you experience something close to umeboshis.
So, what do you think about the 3 editions?
Did you find a product that you’d like to try?
There’s still ume-flavored snacks being sold regardless of the seasons, so please give them a try!
