【A Staple Gift】Cute Chocolates by Mary’s♡

Hello, this is Payke writer LINA!
In Japan, Valentine’s Day (February 14) is a day where a woman gives chocolates to the man she loves.

Valentine’s Day actually originated from Europe’s Saint of Love, St. Valentine, and it is said to be the day where the man and the woman pledge their love to each other. However, in Japan, a unique interpretation was born, and the confectionary industry started a sales strategy advertising it as a day where the woman gives chocolates to the man she loves. Ever since the 1970s, when department stores began carrying out huge events, Valentine’s day became established as a national holiday. If you are visiting Japan in February, you will be able to see many places selling all kinds of chocolates!

Cute Chocolates by Mary’s

Price: 500 yen (tax excluded)
Actually, Mary’s is the first shop to advertise the current view of Valentine’s Day in Japan. In 1958, the first Valentine’s fair in Japan was held, with the theme “Confessions from women to men, with chocolate.” Though it was unaccepted by the public at first, because Valentine’s day gradually became a national event, the company was awarded the Kinenbi Culture Award (National Holiday Award).
And these Mary’s chocolates have been loved by the Japanese for many years because of its cute appearance, reasonable prices, and luxurious taste. I have also been a fan of Mary’s chocolates since I was a child, and whenever I see them, I become drawn to their cuteness and deliciousness and end up buying some.

These are the chocolates I purchased this year because I thought that these two, in particular, were adorable!

First are the chocolates on the left:【Flower Crystal】. The ribbon on the box is already adorable, but when you open the box you will see even cuter flower themed chocolates♡ Made with carefully selected ingredients and a texture that melts in your mouth, they are exceptional chocolates!

The one on the right is【Bears Collection】. They are cute chocolates shaped like bears♡ If I received chocolates like these, I would definitely be happy. If you give these chocolates to someone you like, there is no doubt that your confession would be successful! ♡

February in Japan is Chocolate Heaven!

Recently, besides giving chocolates to your significant other, it seems that more and more people are buying high-quality chocolates for themselves on Valentine’s Day. It might be nice to purchase some chocolates for yourself too. These chocolates by Mary’s can be found in department stores aside from Valentine’s season. These chocolates that I introduced this time are only a small portion of the many varieties of chocolates out there, so please check them out!
