Let’s get “Sakura Snacks” by Ito Yokado featuring Japanese cherry blossoms!

Speaking of Japanese spring, it is “sakura”. Many visitors in the spring often have the purpose to do “Hanami (cherry blossom viewing)”.
Famous Japanese chain store “Ito Yokado” hold “Spring Tasty Blooming Fair” to enjoy an early taste of spring.
Cherry blossoms flavoured snacks with cherry blossoms designed packages are now selling at 157 shops in Japan.
In this article, I will introduce the newly released “Sakura Snacks” at once.

『Glyco, Pocky Rich Chocolatier Fine Salty Cherry Blossom Flavour』

Pocky is one of the popular snacks in Japan launched in 1966. For the chocolate part, cherry blossom leaf extract is mixed. And, for the pretzel part, burned butter is kneaded and it becomes more elegant in taste.

The package is also elegant so it is perfect for the gifts.

『Calbee, Potato Chips Fine Cherry Blossoms Wasabi Flavour』

You can enjoy cherry blossom scent and spicy wasabi flavour.
Chips are coloured a little pink and you can enjoy both appearance and taste.

It’ll be good to bring and eat it when you do “Hanami”.

『Calbee, Kappa Ebisen Fine Cherry Blossom and Salty Flavour』

“Kappa Ebisen” is released in 1955 and still loved by now. Ebisen means shrimp crackers and you can enjoy its nice scent.
In fact, founder of Calbee loves to eat shrimp tempura so this “Kappa Ebisen” was born.

In this spring, they began to sell “Kappa Ebisen” which has fine cherry blossom scent. A shrimp on the package is surrounded by cherry blossoms and he looks pleasant than usual.

I will introduce another snack used shrimp. This is “Seto Salt and Sakura Shrimp Flavour”. Only Sakura shrimp caught at Suruga Bay in Shizuoka Prefecture is used.

It is an addictive taste that salt from Seto Inner Sea is nice and it is crispy fried.

『Iwatsuka Confectionary, Tasteful Sakura Mochi Flavour』

It says “Sakura (cherry blossoms)” but it is not real sakura, it’s Sakura-Mochi. Sakura-Mochi is derived from cherry blossoms and Mochi is wrapped in its leaves. The leaves are salted so a little bit salty in taste is its feature.

You can enjoy Sakura Mochi-like taste by eating it. You can eat it only in Japan so please enjoy this seasonal flavour.

『Sakuma, Sakuma Cherry Blossom Drops』

This product is also long selling and released in 1908. Colourful cherry blossoms are on its package and you can feel coming of spring. Also, it expresses Japanese style of colouring.

The candies are cherry taste and it is a little sweet and sour.

『BURBON, Soft Chocolat Sakura Mochi Flavour』

At last, I will introduce a Mochi snack which you can taste sweet chocolate and flavourful cherry blossoms. Sakura Mochi is how it looks like on the right in the picture. It has Sakura Mochi flavoured ganache chocolate inside.

It has a small fork to eat!
