Enjoy Autumn in Japan! ~ What exactly is the rumored “Satsumaimoko”?

Hello! This is Payke’s writer.
In Japan where there are four seasons, the temperature has dipped a little and has become more like fall.
There are many seasonal foods in Japan, and many in the fall season!
With that said, today we will introduce convenience store fall sweets.
In Japan there are many limited-time products for sale.
Among them the “Satsumaimoko” from Seven Eleven is attracting a lot of attention!

Cute, Delicious, Satsumaimoko

This is the Satsumaimoko.
Quite the cute name isn’t it?
The sweet potato cream makes me curious.
There is a picture on the packaging but the contents can’t be seen…
So, I tried opening it!
(On the back side there is a “tear here” so its a good idea to open it from there.)

Inside there is the purple-colored Satsumaimoko just as it was pictured…!
From the looks of it, it is a regular cream puff.
I tried taking it out on a plate.

It is roundish and cute.
Yellow cream inside is showing a little bit!

Well then, time to eat!

The purple skin portion is… rich!
And of course, the yelllow cream filling!
This cream using Miyazaki Kurei with high sugar content is very sweet and thick!
It is an irresistable taste for potato lovers.
The sweetness spreads in your mouth just by taking one bite.
It can be eaten so quickly.
Please be careful not to spill as the skin and the cream are both very soft.
This Satsumaimoko, with purple skin and a deep yellow cream.
As you can see, it is simply and exactly sweet potato!!
Experience autumn with both your eyes and tongue!

Satsumaimoko Information

Satsumaimoko is sold at Seven Eleven starting September 5th.
It is 140 yen including tax.
Unfortunately it will not be sold in Chiba prefecture and north east regions…
There are 222 kcal per piece.
Autumn is so great with so many delicious foods!
I’d like to enjoy the scenery with black tea and gingko.
There will be many more autumn-exclusive products so I will be introducing them here.
Well, I’ll end things here!
