Globally Important Agricultural Heritage: Famous Confectionary from Nato’s Satoyama and Satoumi

Established over 100 years ago in Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
A long-standing establishment, Kagetsu offers up sweets that show off the abundant colors of Japan’s four seasons. Our sweets are crafted with love and have received numerous awards.

Ingredients Grown Naturally in Noto, a Designated Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Site

Our Dainagon Azuki beans are each raised with love by the farmers of Noto. Compared with other Dainagon beans, ours stand out for their size and vibrant red colour. These beans are carefully boiled and made into anko bean paste- the heart and soul of our sweets.

[Shōrin: A Noto Classic]
Noto’s Dainagon azuki beans are sealed in Kanten Jelly to make Noto’s signature sweet.
These top-quality sweets are inspired by the art of Hasegawa Tōhoku, a famous Japanese painter. Noto’s azuki beans represent pine trees, while the kanten jelly evokes illusory mists.

The melt-in-your-mouth azuki beans and delicate, toffee-like texture of the kanten jelly are truly unique to Japanese confectionery, while the refined sweetness and aroma of the Noto Dainagon Azuki Beans permeates the senses.

Four of these sweets are wrapped in washi paper and placed in a box adorned with the art of Hasegawa Tōhoku. The compact size makes them perfect as a souvenir.

Assortments of Colorful Japanese Sweets, Using Only the Finest Ingredients

[Umaishi ¥150 (tax incl.) for one]
Noto Dainagon Azuki bean paste is sandwiched between soft castella cake made from Japanese yams grown in Kaga, Ishikawa.

We offer three varieties: Yomogi Mugwort, Kuri Chestnut, and Sakura cherry blossom. These express the beauty of Ishikawa Prefecture’s nature and four seasons. The castella cake has a refined sweetness and the flavors of the ingredients are brought out in the bean paste.

[Daizu Candy Dice Box (15 candies per box) ¥540]
These traditional sweets are made from locally grown Daizu beans, are steamed in an iron pot and ground by hand. Our craftspeople meticulously shape each sweet by hand, without any additives.
We have revamped this product in an easy-to-eat candy size. Matcha, Yuzu, and Dried Fruit flavours are available.

These soft candies are made from daizu beans and sugar syrup. Their aromatic daizu flavor and complex aftertaste- and high nutritional value- have made them a beloved favourite in Nanao city.

Matcha
Fall in love with this candy that pairs bitter matcha with the delicate sweetness of Dainagon azuki beans.

Yuzu
Open the bag and breathe in the refreshing, citrusy aroma of yuzu. This candy, accented with pieces of yuzu, would go well with black tea.
