Let us compare all the different bottled green tea! This is our recommendation!

Hello everyone do you normally drink green tea? I really like green tea, so I always buy green tea when I go to the convenience store to get a drink. I would be really happy if people from overseas would also try and enjoy Japan’s delicious green tea.
So today, I will be doing a quick comparison between 5 brands of bottled green tea, and introduce them to everyone, in the order of my recommendation.

Coca cola [Ayataka]

First, I will be introducing [Ayataka] from coca cola. Ayataka has been immensely popular, due to its delicious taste, since it appeared on the market. The taste of the tea is as per its advertising slogan ‘The taste of teapot brewed tea’. Ayataka is a well-balanced tea, with a slight tinch of bitterness but has an amazing aroma of green tea and umani taste. At first I was not a fan of green tea, but after falling in love with the deliciousness of Ayataka, I really grew to like green tea.

Ito En [New tea Oi Ocha]

[Oi Ocha] is a classic brand of Japanese green tea and this particular new tea version is a limited edition that is sold in limited quantities every year around the end of April. This year was my first time trying this product and I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing and unique aroma of newly picked tea it had. It was utterly refreshing and easy to drink, making it delicious. Being able to enjoy the taste of tea made with newly picked tea leaves in a bottle gave it a really luxurious feel. For visitors coming to Japan during this period, towards the end of April, please try one for yourself.

You can also enjoy this [New tea Oi Ocha] with teabags. In addition, if you are planning to buy some souvenirs back home, this teabag version is a good choice to consider.

Kirin [Nama-cha]

[Nama-cha] is really eye catching with its deep green color and stylish design. This green tea has little flaws and has a rich taste. It also has a unique and mildly sweet aftertaste which I imagine to be a perfect complement to your meals. Furthermore, it does not have an intense aroma, so the [Nama-cha] from Kirin is recommended for those who are not able to handle the aroma of green tea

SUNTORY [Iemon]

[Iemon] is a green tea product that was co-developed by Suntory and the famous and established tea house from Kyoto, Fukujuen. It uses Ichiban cha (Tea made from the first new shoots for the year) extravagantly, giving it a light color and a refreshing taste. Personally, I prefer tea with a stronger taste, however, it has a refreshing aroma of tea leaves. So, I believe Suntory’s [Iemon] will be perfect for those who enjoy the aroma of tea leaves.

Ito En [Matcha Oi Ocha]

This [Matcha Oi Ocha] was extracted using the ice water extraction method, which helps to elevate the umami taste and sweetness of the tea, while reducing the astringency and bitterness of the tea. Indeed the astringency and bitterness unique to green tea was not strongly present in the [Matcha Oi Ocha]. Also, it did taste like Matcha as a small portion was added, giving it a refreshing image. Rather than enjoying its taste, I think that perhaps this brand of tea is more suited for those hot summer days when you want to gulp down a refreshing drink to quench your thirst.

How was the introduction?
These bottled green tea are widely available at the supermarket and convenience stores, with the price ranging from 100 yen to 150 yen. The different brands of tea introduced today are all easy to drink compared to tea brewed with hot water, which are usually a little bitterer and has a higher astringency. When you visit Japan, I would recommended you to drink delicious green tea over juices or water while you have the chance. Of course, I would be even more glad if you could have a try of my favorite Ayataka green tea♪
