Classic & Popular Gifts from Hokkaido You Can’t Miss

Hello! This is Payke writer yui!
In recent years, the number of tourists visiting Hokkaido is increasing very rapidly!
I think that is because Hokkaido has so much to offer; from delicious seafood to sweets, amazing nature, and so on.
I’m sure that many people have been to, or are planning to visit, Hokkaido.
This time, I want to introduce you to a few gifts from Hokkaido that would get people, who haven’t visited yet, to understand its charm!

ROYCE’ Nama Chocolate

First, I’ll introduce the ROYCE’ “Nama Chocolate.”

Mild Cacao 778 yen (tax included)

ROYCE’ is a very famous brand in Japan.
The flavor I chose this time is one that doesn’t include any liquor.
Even children and people who are not good with liquor can eat this without any worries.

After opening the packaging and taking off the lid, behold, the creamy chocolates have made their appearance!
You can smell the rich scent of chocolate.

Now, let’s try some!
…they are extremely delicious!
They gradually melted in my mouth, and I could really taste the rich flavors of milk!
They are moderately sweet, so I feel like I can eat as many as I want.
There are also other flavors like “Green Tea,” “Au Lait,” “Bitter,” and “White.”
Most of the flavors are a 20-piece set for 778 yen (tax included).
The premium flavors are a little more expensive.
They last for about a month.
There is also limited-edition packaging available, so please check them out when you visit Hokkaido~

Rokkatei Marusei Butter Sandwich

Next, I’ll introduce Rokkatei’s Marusei Butter Sandwich!

Marusei Butter Sandwich Set of 5 for 650 yen (tax included)
Rokkatei is another long-established confectionary manufacturer in Hokkaido.
Marusei Butter Sandwich is a cream sandwich composed of biscuits made from Rokkatei’s specialty flour, white chocolate, raisin, and butter made from 100% milk produced in Hokkaido.
Now, let’s try some!

The cookie has a very strong scent of butter, and the texture is crispy but moist.
When you hear that it has butter and white chocolate, some might assume that this is very sweet.
But, that is certainly not the case!
This is yet another confectionary that I can eat nonstop.

Since there are lots of raisins inside, you can really feel the textures of them!
It’s probably not an overstatement to say that this outshines other raisin-sandwich confectionaries!
A set of 10 is 1300 yen (tax included) and a set of 20 is 2600 yen (tax included).
When stored in a cool place, this lasts for around 9~10 days.

Ishiya Confectionary Shiroi Koibito

Lastly, I’ll introduce Ishiya Confectionary’s “Shiroi Koibito (White Lover)”!

Shiroi Koibito 9 cookies (576 yen)
Shiroi Koibito is, without a doubt, a well-known, popular product!

There is a place where you can tour the Shiroi Koibito factory and experience making your own sweets, which is known as the “Shiroi Koibito Park”!
There are products that are exclusive to Shiroi Koibito Park as well, so please go and visit!
Going back to the Shiroi Koibito now!
Let’s try them!

The ‘langue de chat’ cookies are very crispy!
The toasted areas are delicious too.
The white chocolate is very creamy as well.
They really go well with the cookies!
This time, I introduced the white chocolate version, but there is also a normal chocolate version as well.
A set of 12 cookies is 761 yen (tax included) and there is also a set of 54 cookies, the largest set, for 3805 yen (tax included).
As the number of cookies in a set increase, they start to come inside a tin can instead of a box!
They last for 180 days.

And those were the classic & popular gifts from Hokkaido!
They are all delicious so please try them out at least once.
I’m already addicted to them!
Apart from Hokkaido, these products are available at antenna stores (stores that sell local specialties) and department store events all throughout Japan.
If you are going to a department store event, please check which stores will be there beforehand!
