It has its origins from over 200 years ago, developed based on the medicine for throat pain “Ryukakusan” that is still widely used today. It made from 19 different kinds of herbal extract and the “Ryukakusan Herb Powder” that contains Chamomile and Chinese quince as its main ingredients.

The cough drop is slightly greenish yellow and has a medicinal scent. The taste of the cough drop is milder than its scent indicates. Nonetheless, the second it enters your mouth it will quickly refresh your mouth with a strong cooling sensation. Slowly, it will feel as though the cooling sensation is flowing through your nose and before long the soothing effect on the throat becomes prominent.

The color of the cough drop is a light yellow and when it enters your mouth, you will be hit with the smell and flavor of lemons. I really like this particular cough drop. When I first heard that each piece contains 1 lemon’s worth of vitamin C, I thought that it would be very sour as per lemons. However, to my surprise, it was not sour but rather, I found it deliciously sweet.
The cough drop does not have a cooling sensation, however, the honey in the cough drop feels as though it is enveloping the throat and protecting it from harm.

Lotte「Cough drop」

The cough drop from Lotte contains Chinese Quince extract on top of 13 different herbs. I would recommend this cough drop for those who are looking to sooth and refresh their throat.

The surface of the cough drop is really smooth and it has a scent similar to cola candy. Again, once you put it into your mouth, the cough drop will instantly start refreshing your mouth and cooling sensation will make its way through your nose. Although, it should be noted that the cooling sensation is not as strong as the Ryukakusan’s throat refreshing cough drop. Apart from having a cooling sensation, the cough drop is also sweet making it a perfect balance. In addition, slowly but surely, the soothing effects on the throat can be felt.

Nobel「VC 3000 cough drop」

In addition to the whole package of cough drops containing 3000mg of Vitamin C ( equivalent to 150 lemons), the cough drops are also made from 12 different kinds of herbs.

As per its vivid yellow color, the cough drop is quite sour! Although the cough drop has a slight cooling sensation, it does not attack the nose as per the other cough drops that have a cooling sensation. The cough drop is non-sugar, so I would recommend this one for those who are concerned with their calorie intake.
