Which sweets do Tokyo women love?

What kind of snacks do you like?
Hello! This is Payke’s writer.
Life is full of temptations, isn’t it? Like me, I’m sure that you often find yourself in situations where you have to exercise self-control and fight against temptation.
However, there are also times when it’s okay to give in to temptation, don’t you think?

Yes, I’m talking about “sweet temptations”.
Or to be more specific, “sweet snack temptations”!

This time round, Payke has interviewed 50 Tokyo women, conducting a thorough investigation of their favorite snacks!

People are crazy about its unique texture!? – Galbo Mini (meiji) –

Mini-sized Galbo chocolates, popular for their crunchy exterior and soft centers.
Even in the heat of summer, they don’t stick to your hands, so there’s no need to try and eat mushy, melted chocolate.
Sold at a reasonable price, Galbo Mini can be purchased with a light heart.

There are 6 flavors in total: chocolate, speckled strawberry, purple potato, bitter black, matcha milk and fragrant & full-bodied white. You can definitely make someone happy by bringing these home as souvenirs!

This bittersweet flavor is just right! – Pure Gummy Candy (KANRO) –

Juicy, fruity gummies and gummies with sour powder sprinkled over them.
Each of them has a rounded heart shape, so they also look cute.
They come in a zip lock bag, so they’re convenient to carry around.

The packaging is also cute, so you’ll find yourself wanting them all!

The king of crunchy snacks – Jagariko (Calbee) –

When we conducted the interviews, the name that came up most often was Jagariko, the tried and tested potato snack.
Jagariko is a long-selling product from Calbee.
With a crunchy texture, potato flavor, and a stick shape that makes them easy to eat, Jagariko has many fans, and one in five of the interviewees mentioned the name of this product.

Besides the basic flavors of salad, cheese, potato butter and cod roe butter, you can also enjoy different limited edition flavors from time to time.
Please check out the new favors that were launched from September 2017, such as cheddar & sour cream!

Results: It turns out that the popularity of gummy candies in Japan is very real.

If you go by classification, gummy candy products hold the majority.
Although Jagariko was mentioned the most times, if you asked us which snack is most popular with modern Tokyo women, we’d have to say “gummies”!

So as we suspected, compact sweets that you can always carry around in your bag, and “single mouthful” sized sweets that you can share with your friends were chosen.
Have you tried any of the snacks that we mentioned?
If your answer was “I’ve never eaten them!”, then why not give them a try next time?
We will continue to keep an eye on trends among women!
